“Hey Siri, I’m home”
Apple HomeKit – Turn your ordinary home to a “Smart Home”

Since WWDC back at June 2014, I’m pretty sure theres many of you out there are wondering what is this home icon apps does on your iOS device after an update. That app, ladies and gentleman — is the new revolution to home automation — HomeKit.

Back in the days, we’ve always wanted to turn off our floor lamp without having to walk to it and physically turn it off. Well now, thanks to Apple HomeKit, our dream has became a reality — and more…

With the Home app, now you can easily and securely control all your HomeKit accessories. Simply ask Siri to turn off the lights from your iPhone. See who’s at the front door on your iPad. Control things remotely with the help of Apple TV. Even tell your new HomePod to turn up the music. The Home app makes all your connected devices work harder — and smarter — for you.

Now with Home, you could automate your entire house with just a tap or your voice. Home allows you to set scenes, which enable multiple accessories to work in combination — all with a single command. So you can create a scene named “Leaving Home” that turns off the lights and locks your doors.

As all of us know, Apple is very finicky about security. So by using Home with all your HomeKit compatible accessories — your house is fully secured. Because the transmission between you and your home are encrypted using some of the best security that exist by Apple.

The best part about Home is, you’re not restricted to one brand products to automate your house. Widely available out on the market today, theres a lot of brands out there that made accessories just for HomeKit. Just to name a few brands like, Elgato Eve, Philips Hue, Nanoleaf, and tons more. They got everything you need from a simple plug to floor lamp — to a state of the art light panels. From controlling your lights — to controlling your entire house. And to add on to that. You can start as simple as 1 plug — then simply add on more as you move on.

So now you know what Home app does. So whenever you want to get your own accessories for your house, just make sure that you look up for this symbol in the stores and online. Because that is one of the way to make sure you get the right thing.
